Pain Control
We will make every effort to reduce the discomfort during a dental procedure. To prevent patients from experiencing pain during treatment, we may administer local anesthesia (numbing medicine). A local anesthetic is delivered in a slow and gentle manner and prevent the pain that may occur from a dental procedure. The duration of numbness after treatment varies from patient to patient and depends on what drug is used and where it is given. Generally the numbness wears off after one to three hours. Parents must be careful to watch their child for accidentally biting on their lips, cheeks or tongue when the mouth is still numb.
